Flying economy with a airline like Singapore is not an ordeal as they have great service and high standard. To fly Ryan Air or similar budget airline is not something I recommend. Make sure you got lounge access with Priority Pass or similar, it makes a great difference. As a Star Alliance Diamond member they tend to give me fringe benefits like fast lane, lounge access and higher luggage allowance even flying in economy class.

I take a small garbage bag or even like a Walmart bag and put it in the seat pocket it front of me. Several uses, if I get sick (rarely but it has happened), you can slip your things you need on the flight, like earphones, or iPad or whatever so it’s easy to reach and you don’t have to expose your items to the funky seat backs and finally I put my garbage from snacks, Kleenex etc into it and throw it away on my way out

because the flight attendants stand back and wave goodbye. they could stand in front of the row who's turn it is, let them out, then move on to the next row. i used to work in live theatre and this was the cleanest method. aloha~

When I view a saved travel map on my iPhone, the icons disappear. This seems to happen when I zoom in or when I click on a saved icon. Also it happens after a few minutes just viewing without clicking or zooming. Is there a fix for this? I have to keep reopening the map. Thank you

You should also bring some Neosporin. What you do is you put some in your noise, keeping it moist and not dry on your flight. Game changer. As well as some nasal spray.

I always bring a couple of snacks with me.

I take these with me on the flight: 1 - Therm-a-Rest lumbar travel pillow, I don't always need to use it but some seats don't have much lower back support. It's compact after all the air are out. 2 - Listerine pocketpaks fresh breath strips instead of brushing my teeth inflight, don't want to use their water to rinse. 3 - Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, I don't have makeup to remove but the wipe cleans my face without drying and it's individually wrapped, doesn't take up any room.

I bring a tennis ball in my bag. They work great to relieve pressure points or "knots" (massage therapist trick).

Thank you for sharing your trip. ❤ We were going to do an EBC trek in 2022, but two members of our group had some heart issues, so instead we decided to just hike to Namche Bazar without a guide or porter and then do day treks. We stayed in Namche for a week and got to know the town and the locals. We even got to celebrate Tihar (the festival of light) with them. We then did various day hikes around the area to places that not many tourists get to see. We were usually the only non-Nepalese around. It was incredible. This is a good option for people who want to experience the area, but may not feel comfortable going all the way to EBC or may want to go at their own pace and schedule. We also took a helicopter to Lukla and then up to Kala Patthar instead of the plane. When I saw the Himalayas from the helicopter I felt like such an insignificant nothing. Yes, the Nepalese are impressive people. We say that Superman doesn’t live in the Fortress of Solitude, he lives in Nepal and wears flip-flops. 😁

What about food hygiene in street foods? Have You had any trouble. I am kinda afraid of eating salad washed with tap water. Especially as western people are not used to the water.

The revelation I recently got (thanks to my son in law) is that I don’t have to travel extremely often to earn significant travel points from credit cards. I use my card that gives the most points (not one of the really expensive ones) and put ALL of my regular monthly expenses on the card (to earn points) and then pay it off monthly (as I would if the expenses were coming straight from my checking account). But now I’m earning points on things I need to spend on anyway. There’s even a great card-called Bilt-that lets you earn points (dollar for dollar) for your monthly rent payments!

I don’t use a toothbrush and paste inflight because they keep saying the restroom water isn’t potable. So to brush your teeth you have to take bottled water with you to the restroom. On the plane I use Wisps (or equivalent brand)-tiny individual toothbrushes with a dab of paste built in. I always try for reusable things but this is one of the few disposable exceptions that’s worth it.

Take two aspirin at the start of your travel day. The aspirin will help to prevent blood clots from forming and alleviate minor aches and pains before they start. Also, I bring saline nasal spray. It helps me to deal with the dry airplane air.

I usually need more legroom in economy, so I usually pay for an exit row, or upgrade to premium if it’s a long flight.

I tried one of those collapsible water bottles, they're horrible. Yes, the fold up easily, But once you fill them up, they won't stand up on their own so they take up so much more table space by lying flat, you can't slip them into a side pocket of a bag while you have water still in them, etc. I literally threw mine away in the airport as useless ...

I love flying allegiant. I'm a veteran so I get any and all bags free, but I do carryon only. I get preboarding and free seat choice. I'm sure I'm missing some benefits, but if you are a veteran, I highly recommend allegiant. 🎉

over pack camera gear. You don’t need a studio set up. I take one DSLR 3 lens and a couple of batteries. Seen people with 50+ pounds around. If it won’t fit in the overhead you don’t need it.

Love many of the tips however the no cash is a problem. In the last couple years we have had several occasions when cabs from the airport in countries where we didn’t have ride share allowed at airports and credit card systems didn’t work. We had to stop at an ATM or ask hotel to get us cash upon arrival. Having $100 of cash is always a good idea.
